Question, is it possible to over stress and possible kill coral by dipping them? I wonder if dipping corals sometimes is what might actually kill them. I recently got a few frags and instead of mixing the dip up in a gallon of water like the directions state with X amount of mml solution, I just scooped out a cup of tank water and dribbled a little of my coral RX in. Dipped for 5 or so minutes and into the tank. A couple of them closed up in dip and stayed that way in the tank and never opened back up (acan and a forest fire digi) and have been slowly STN/RTN to almost nothing within a few weeks. I wonder if maybe I added to much dip or something and it killed them??? Added a chalice and a birdsnest not long before it and they have been doing fine. Just wondering if anyone thinks dipping sometimes could be the issue, specially if not used as directed. I have also heard people say coralRX has killed coral and not to use, what is your take on that dip?

Yes, that's why I use Bayer

I user Bayer also.

For the forest fire digi, it slowly STNed and died. I learned that forest fire digis don't like high alk and needs low light. Now, that my alk is about 8.5 vs 10 and my latest forest fire frag is at the bottom of the tank, it is doing great. Hope that helps you.

Will coral dip use bristleworms? I have a few in my tank, but want to frag the coral WITHOUT bristleworms to put in my pico tank

Bayer will kill the bristle worms or at least stun them so they fall off your frag.

so is it suggested to switch from coralRX to bayer? I know people have been using bayer for awhile but have to say it has always made me very nervous thinking about using a pesticide to treat corals. I guess as long as you follow others directions there is nothing to worry about. Will bayer work better at killing pest than coralRX or other dips?

Its funny that folks say some dips are too weak to work, but recommend a more potent one because the weak one killed their coral.
So id say it's anecdotal at best unless the directions were not followed or the coral was already in poor health.

On thing bayer wont do is kill algae. bacterias , viruses, diatoms and dinoflagellates.
Although still not fool proof, I will use bayer, then, Revive or peroxide after the Bayer dip.
Peroxide now, can be harsh.

What do you use to kill algae? Peroxide?

Peroxide or revive.
Peroxide can be harsh on some corals.
If the algae is just on the plug you can use a q tip it small string and use non diluted peroxide.
