Hello all ! I have some zoas that aer starting to get out of control. I tried to tear them appart but dosent work. Is there a way to inyect them with something that could kill large portions of the colony and give the others some chances to grow?

Thanks in advance !

I turkey baster then to make them close up. Then i take a pair of surgical scissors and cut off the polyp as far down to the base as possible. You can actually reattach the polyps to plugs and propagate.

That's how I manage a good balance of the zoas based on getting growth rates.

Aiptasia-x into open polyps. It may take a couple shots over a week to kill them but it should do the job.
Boiling water may work as well but I have not tried this method.
Be careful, some zoas can release some nasty stuff as they die (i've seen acros affected by dying zoas in the past)

Tweezers don't work. I would like to kill several at a time not going from one head to another... I would of thought that a inyexttion of some kind would kill all the interconnected ones to a certain size point.

Maybe you are using the tweezers wrong. It does depend on the zoa and their growth pattern, but generally they work great for me to rip large mats of zoas off.

question to the group, I have considered a tuberculin syringe/needle to inject the base with talk paste

I have a ring of Aptasia inside the overflow (file fish and shrimp effective in the display) and too many poly zoas spreading in the display,

Anyone try injection method?

Have you used one?

Have read/watched many reviews and the best report I have seen so far is it can sometimes work if you spend a few minutes on each polyp and treat it multiple times over the course of several days. It's essentially useless in my opinion. If you are talking about eradicating a mat of zoas you are talking about hours a day for multiple days. Not a reasonable approach

id just blast the section you don't want with kalk. Don't have to be surgical about it. F aiptasia is my favorite (i use it to kill mushrooms which I have a lot of)
