After a water change one of my brain corals receded and started to die. This seemed to spread to two other brains and later both candy canes. Attached is one of the candy canes. Does anything know what I’m looking at here? It’s the head on the left. Thanks in advance...

I can't answer your question about what happened, but I can tell you mine have been through 2 mini crashes and have come back both times.

What are your parameters before and after your water change? Possibly a ALK spike?

I've not measured in a while. Will check this weekend. What was odd was it seemed to move from one coral to another. Was not sure if there was something in the photo I was missing. I do appreciate the responses.

From that photo, it sure looks like you have a parasite. Looks like flatworms. I didn't know them to eat candy canes, but I'd dip it.

I don't think it's the cause of the problem but it does look like acoel flatworms, I'd recommend a dip too.

What makes you think flatworms? I don’t see bite marks I see what looks like the head melted.

Totally missed that!!!! Good catch and I now totally agree

Coral dip followed by metro or iodine dip.

Most likely brown jelly disease. Brown jelly is most likely protozoa infestation. Remove any infected coral and dip accordingly.
