Killer at night - help!!

Better than the dim flashlight mentioned above is to use the same technique, but use a red LED. Most of the hitchhikers in our tank can't see red (I'm assuming a lack of rods in the eye - humans have rods and cones).

I ordered a cheap one from China, waited a month to get it, and then spent literally an hour from 1am to 2am just staring at all of the bristle worms, brittle stars, and others in my tank that I had never seen.
 
In my case it was a gorilla crab. It ate soft coral and fish. I never caught it even when I woke every two hour to check the tank for over two weeks! Trap didn't work either. Then I removed everything from the tank and my daughter spied it hidden in a rock. Very satisfying to kill it.
 
My guess is that it's the Coral Banded Shrimp. I had one that was a terror. He ended up in my sump
