someone recently stated their mushroom ate their clown i was told this isnt possible. Does or has anyone have exsperience with this is there a truly killer mushroom in the ocean ?

I kept an elephant mushroom many, many years ago in my first reef tank and it did indeed consume several fish before I found a decomposing yellow tang in its grips and figured it out why my fish were going missing

ya, my LFS had a elephant mushroom about 12'' diameter.. he was feeding it frozen silverbacks i think. It would eat 3-4 at a time in about 15-20 minutes... blew me away

ive herd actually your not even really supposed to keep coral anywhere around shrooms even, for they are super devious and mighty deadly

which is funny in its own way cuz they kinda just sit there, but as soon as your not looking BAM they go godzilla

well, either the shroom was MUCH larger than 12" or you mean to say that he was feeding it silverSIDES.. I can't imagine a coral eating a gorilla..

I had a green Rhodactus (or possibly discosoma, I don't remember) nearly kill a cynarina and take down a few polyps of Blastos. They can have a nasty sting. That's not exactly the same as eating a fish though lol.

the vid is not mine btw just a quick google search, but imo aggression is aggression. i feel as tho any coral (that isnt strictly a filter feeder) can use its tents and or toxins to draw anything it sees as yummy

My green elephant ear mushroom ate 2 clownfish couple of weeks ago.. it closes very slow to catch the fish easily, what it did, once the clown hosted the mushroom, one night it ate the first to spit it the next day half eaten.. a week later the turn of the second one came.. same stuff.. But the coral is so beautiful that I am not looking to remove it from my tank..
