I have GSP on the largest piece of rock on my Aquascape. It's also the rock thats an arch. See photo with outline of the piece.

So getting rid of these piece is not really an option. It does NOT peel off the rock. The only way I have been able to get it off is by removing the entire rock and scrubbing parts off with a steel brush. I would prefer not to do this constantly as my goal is add more corals. I know if you spread aiptasia x or kalkwasser paste on the GSP mat it will likely kill that section/ temporarily keep it from spreading. I also know that if you add too much of this to the tank, it can effect the PH.
My thought was to do small amounts every so often. So I was thinking about applying it (in the tank) like the size of a quarter, maybe once a week (to slowly reduce its size).
Tank is 32 biocube
Would this be safe amount to add at this frequency without effecting the PH too much?
Could I do more or more frequently?
Can either of these products be harmful to inverts (I assume its safe for fish)

Does anyone have a better idea?

Thank you!

I know of no ways to accomplish this other than manual removal every so often.

FTR, A power washer will strip all visible parts of the mat quickly, the GSP will regrow faster than it seems possible.

Have you ever tried or know someone that tried the aiptasia x or kalkwasser paste to kill it?

long term you will have to keep GSP on a separate "island" to prevent spread. Maybe remove rock and take out all GSP.

I think it looks great as is.
Thanks Randy… the problem is eventually the entire rock that is outlined will inevitable be covered with GSP. I’d like to have other corals on my scape. :confused-face:
Any thoughts on a safe amount of either of those products, that can be added to a tank my size without negatively effecting the water chemistry?

honestly, it would be easier to remove all the GSP and then make a little island for it. Controlling it long term on those rocks will be awful and time consuming.

Is that rock removable? Could try the alk paste outside the tank, rinse and return. If/when the GSP dies, remove with a stiff brush before it’s polluted the tank.

I’m actually in the same situation as you. Been contemplating ideas on how to save the rock but kill all GSP.

It is removable. I may try that. hopefully someone else can chime in that has been through this situation and been able to preserve the liveness of the rock while successfully removing the GSP.

I'm not certain, but could you try spot treating an area with food grade hydrogen peroxide? It sure did a number on GHA when I had an outbreak.

I can tell you how much kalkwasser paste is ok, but it will take a lot of treatments and may not work before alk gets too high.

I’m not sure what’s in aiptasia X.
