What is this thing and did it kill my crab, reef tank

Looks like it could be an oenone fulgida- they usually eat snails and molluscs but apparently they'll eat crabs too- unfortunately they are very difficult to kill/trap

My crabs molt a lot - are you sure its a corpse and not a molting? To me, the orange creature looks more like a bristle worm scavenging the remains, rather than a cause of death (or molting).

Not sure, ima pull out all the worms, plenty of other cleaners in there just to play it safe, my local fish guy said there bristle worms also

most worms are good cuc, taking too many out can crash some tanks
Hmm, tomorrow ima check the worm tube and post what I find as long as there all reef safe I'll leave em, my wife's all concerned about it lol

was that the dead crab or just the moult?
Dead crab, not sure how it died, it may have been the hitchhiker from the initial setup I started with a little over 100lbs of live rock found him in the bottom of the box during setup so 0 acclimation for that little guy.

oh, no wonder he probably died

I know I’m months late but was the crab covered in slime? And did the worm instantly go back into its hole if disturbed?
