Yah I learned about this and did not risk it .. just took the rock out after I got some of my sps off of them, and dried the rock out and am going to start over with it. I hate those things. They are awful.Because of the toxins they release into the water as well as in the air.
I noticed this a little bit when I first started. Then, I focused the laser directly into the mouth (when I could with the angle) and fried that first... then when the "fingers" would begin to shrivel up into the base, I would cook and fry everything else. Noticed a difference when I did it that way. But again, overall, I am thrilled and this is the best way to control them in my opinion ... along with the help from my filefish who is now on clean up duty of course!I noticed that too with the other stuff I cook like hydroids. a bit about majanos, and aptasias. I noticed that if i zap them with the laser then I get a lot of babies. seem they have enough time to spit them out before dying. I will continue to use aphasias X from red sea for those. but for other things like problem unwanted zoas, hydroids, evening out of control encrusting montiporas, they are great. I also found out that it will definitely kill off cyano, or spiralina. killed off a quarter size spot of it and it has never come back. also Best Lasers are great. they have a warehouse in california, and one on the east coast which carry the lasers in stock, which means not having to worry about something coming from overseas and getting seized by customs. I am also in california. I got my 5 watt laser in 2 days. great response. answered every question, even sent me a free laser gift.
No, the laser will melt anything dark, like black, brown, dark blue color. With white and clear stuff the heat penetration is not that highWhat the opinion of trying this thru acrylic, I would think the laser would melt it????
Great to know. No, the laser will melt anything dark, like black, brown, dark blue color. With white and clear stuff the heat penetration is not that high
Where do the best ones come from? No, the laser will melt anything dark, like black, brown, dark blue color. With white and clear stuff the heat penetration is not that high
I bought some couples year ago from china, those burning laser with strong intensity is only for military use, not allow to sell in US. I cost around 70-100$ for one, and blue is the best for burning. Usually shipped from china with label “FlashLight”Where do the best ones come from?

Actually the company I got mine from htpow.com is a great place to buy it from. I found them to be VERY responsive to questions, sent a great quality strong laser, and it got here QUICK! In fact, I was very very skeptical and found some shady places, and I was even nervous about this place. But they were great ... ( so great they sent me another laser to try out ... I will be sharing that bad boy here shortly!)Where do the best ones come from?
Could it burn something in the back glass? So ... my old laser. Which I just got a month ago and was THRILLED with and was doing a great job of killing the nasty aiptasia, majanos and purple blue clove polyps
And my newest bad boy that the company sent me to try out!! And yah, as you can see, this one has some serious juice and kick. This one absolutely DESTROYS and MELTS the nuicance nasties! The first laser I have been using was a good time, but this one is some SERIOUS fun and really does the job!

If you mean trying to get at a pest towards the back of the tank, while I am "shooting" at it from the front ... yes it can. Totally sizzles it. (my tank is 16 inches front to back)Could it burn something in the back glass?
I think I saw one of those deep in my tank ... if I can find it I will try it and see. I dont see why it would not. The kick back beam off of the glass and reflection is enough to quickly burn me when using it.I wonder if it would kill vermetid snails??
Yah I have those (not that many though) and have just left them be. My experience they are not that much of a bother. I am SURE the laser would work on them though.Thinking 9f trying it on my asterinas

+1 Amen to that !I know this has been covered by @melev . But it does bear repeating. You only have one pair of eyes, make sure you are protecting them. The cheap glasses that come with these kits carry no sort of ANSI rating and a decent pair of certified glasses with the proper optical density won't cost you much.
1 second at 12" and almost burned a hole through the standard cheap glasses that come with these kits. Blue light penetrated immediately.
