Hi guys..
I know this has been asked a lot but no one really seems to follow up regarding this topic after trying this method.

I have read a few threads on here regarding people using lemon juice, vinegar or just plain boiling water to kill off xenia.

Can anyone who has used this method please offer some assistance.. how to.

Basically, I am unable to remove my rock from the tank to do any manual scraping or removal of the Xenia. There’s just too much rock and too much Xenia and it will be a major disruption to tank.

So I have read that people have successfully used lemon juice, vinegar or hot water injected into the flesh of the stalk.

Questions are, what lemon juice… is this store bought or a fresh lemon (sorry if that sounds dumb, lol).

Or what vinegar, just normal store bought malt/white?

And for both of these options, how much do I actually inject?
what do i do after, water change? additional skimming? carbon etc?

Also, after I do this.. how long does it usually take.. would I see it shrivel up immediately? Or does it melt away over days/week?

As I can’t get the rocks out, is this a one and done thing? Or will it grow back eventually and I will have to do this again as a kind of maintenance/management programme.

Or, apart from the method above, does anyone know of any other way to get rid of Xenia without removing the rock?

Thanks!

Fluke tabs, I believe is Fenbendazole.
I dosed less than one tab in my 80 gallon tank and all the Xenia and gsp melted away.

Will this impact anything else..
I have a toadstool, some hammers, candy cane, frogspawn red gonipora

I believe it is a deworming agent. It did not effect candy cane in my tank or torch coral. Unsure about the others.

Cool thanks...
How long ago was that...
As in is it a temp solution will u have to do this regularly?
Also, after how long did it start melting

Hello mate...
I have started using lemon juice from the store and white vinegar... Using a 50/50 solution heated in the microwave... Then I jecting it into the fat part of the stalk... Seems to be working... I am taking it very slow... Doing a little but every 3 days or so...
So far parameters seem stable and the ones that I have injected have melted away completely... But I don't know if they will grow back eventually... But at least I can use this method to control them if they come back...
I still have a long way to go though as I still have a lot... Taking it slow

Xenia issues also in my 45 gal tank, they love it! The LFS isn't interested in taking any back, don't know of any other aquarists in this area, so I've started ripping them off and flushing them. Problem is they start growing again from the base that is embedded in the rock. Does that lemon juice/vinegar solution work, will it harm the other polyps nearby? Thanks, Steve
Removed a large stalk, just a bit of the base remained, now it's regrowing.

I removed a big stalk next to the one below and now you can see several others popping up.
