Hi, First post after starting reef 15 months ago. Probably not doing everything right but its been fun so far. Details 5.5 bare bottom with cured fiji rock No skimmer No sump. Just Aquaclear 70 hob $34, Lumini pixie 30 led $72 and heater $20 I use a Wu Yu chy ATO $13 adjusted to allow surface turbulance for oxygen. Important with no skimmer. Lights on 8 hours all blue channels. All for reef, acropower, and brs marinemix salt. 2 gallon water change every10 days. Only test alk. Use 2 instant ocean hydrometers 1.026. LPS and easy SPS started as frags. I won't spend over $40 for a coral tho I've been tempted. 1 blue damsel. 4 scarlet hermits. 2 snails. Corals look great. Very slow growth but thats ok. Failures. alveopora, papaya clove polyps, ricordia . Zoas don't like my reef.
