I just started dosing Kalk using an Octo 150 Kalk stirrer. I am using my DOS to dose 1800ml over a 24-hour period. I'm dosing in conjunction with my ATO. My evaporation is around 3800 to 4000ml per day. I started dosing 1200 ml's and ramped up to 1800ml. The DOS is pushing 13.8ml 4 times an hour over 24 hours

my pH is steady around 7.9 - 8.01 at 1800 ml's

should I consider increasing the kalk dosing? my goal is to increase my pH levels

What is your alkalinity, that needs to be watched when adding kalk?

Why has there been this switch to dosing to raise PH instead of dosing to maintain alk

Keep the alk below 9.5, and increase kalk if you want.
Other ways to increase ph by reducing co2 in water.
Run a refugium with chaeto.
Increase the light period or intensity in the dt to promote coral photosynthesis.
Run skimmer airline to outside.

Skimmer is in a low CO2 room. I Have a CO monitor
tank is to new for a Refugium- hardly any bio-load
the lights run 10 hours

Then ph of 8 is fine for a new tank.
I think you meant co2 monitor, CO is something else.

As folks have noted, you cannot randomly target pH and not closely monitor alkalinity. It may rise too high before you even reach your pH goal.

what are your DKH numbers? are they swinging higher at night?

I don't test my DKH at night as I only switch over to kalk just before I go to bed. However, I will do a test before my DT lights come on and post them for you later.

are you increasing from your day time numbers?
My magnesium is on the low side so need to get that up. Calcium is over 500ppm after bumping it too much but will get them back inline soon which will hopefully be followed by an increase in KH.
