thanks for your time!

I have a kole tang - he's been in my display tank over 4 months. I did not qt him prior.

Things have been going well until 2 weeks ago...

the fish is losing weight fast, fins are deteriorating

still very active, eats anything I put in front of him

other tankmates: 2 clowns and a yellow watchman gobie

everyone else appears happy.

I've started feeding multiple varieties of food mutiple times per day since Saturday. I've also began soaking the foods in selecon to try to boost the nutrition/health.

I have a 10 gallon qt running with a wrasse and gramma.

should I try to move the tang there for treatment - I'm going to treat qt with prazipro and copper power. havent started the copper as yet - have had some challenges with the first round of prazi.

thanks for your help!

what are you feeding? Weight loss could be sign of internal parasites. have you noticed white stringy poop?
I would treat by adding metoplex and focus to its food for a min of 10 days. Don't think copper will do anything for what you are dealing with.

Thanks!
My qt is 10 gallons, my display is 90.
I'm feeding Rods Original and Herbivore, and New Life Spectrum.

metoplex - treat in display with corals, inverts and other tank mates? or move to qt and treat everyone?

Metroplex can be used in display, so long as you are using to soak food and combine with focus to bind it to the food. I would also run carbon during this process to be sure that any leaching out of food is removed. Metroplex is not recommend to be dosed into the water column in a DT as it is not reef safe. You would want to use a QT for treating external ailments with this med.

Metroplex and "Focus" are both by Seachem, and come with little measuring spoons. One "Seachem" measure each of Metro and Focus to about a tablespoon of food (frozen/thawed or moistened pellets), let stand for a bit and it's reef-safe to feed. If you have "leftovers", you can pop 'em in the fridge for a day or three. Feed the medicated mix 1-2x per day for 10 - 14 days, and most internal parasites will go away. This is a good thing, because if your tang has 'em, then your other fish do as well - they get it from eating one another's poop.

P.S. - How's the tang doing today?
