Hi, I have had this tank up and running for over a year. No problems, it’s been on autopilot for the last several months. It’s a 75 gallon softy leather tank. One of my first fish added was a Kole tang to work on GHA. It’s been a good fish but a bit” bossy” I’ve introduced several other fish with no problem, Valentini puffer, box fish, cow fish, one spot foxface, Royal gramma and never had an issue. So today, after spotting a few aipthasia, I talked it over with mybtrusted lfs and got a CBB. The tang took an issue with it immediately. Forcing it into an upper corner and making fast swims at it. This is even after everyone’s been fed.
So, anyone else have this problem?

I don’t have a tang, but I did recently get a CBB. She’s a bit of a weeny, and would not do well with any aggression. I would be quite concerned about getting it to eat at all. It took me a few days of deliberate methods to get her eating. Clam/muscle on the half-shell seemed to be the trick, then slowly transition to feeding in water column... with minimal current or competition.

Back to the issue of the tang, my reading is they might see the CBB as competition (it’s not) and continue to harass. Can you partition the tank or rearrange the rockscape at all? Again, from reading, not experience, I don’t think it will get better on it’s own.

For tonight I used a net to partition off an area for the zCBB.once the tang is gone, the CBB swims all over looking for food,so I think it’s a good fish with a bit of bravery. I’m hoping the tang will get tired once it realizes there’s no threat to its existence. The CBB. Took right to the frozen mysis so I think I’m good on the food, just hate to see the bullying as I don’t have any with the other creatures. Even my emerald crabs are good citizens,
Tangs are such odd fish. Unpredictable.

This is a pretty common occurrence for an established tang. Koles can actually be a bit of jerks...

I recently caught my Kole and removed it to a QT tank temporarily as I plan to add new fish and knew this can be a real problem. Will add it back once the new more peaceful/shy fish are established.

I gave a weak attempt at catching it but it’s a lot smarter than I want to admit, ha.
