I noticed this sore on my tang a few days ago and I asked somebody about it and they said it's probably just a scrape from rock or something.

But It is getting bigger and it looks swollen. It's only on it's left cheek and I'm worried it's going to get worse.

Here's a picture of it when I first noticed it. Don't have a current one because it's late and lights are off.

Looks like a nem or coral sting. Got any euphyllia? If its getting worse and not better, then you may need to treat with antibiotics (Kanaplex) in a QT. Or if you can't QT, at least give the fish a 90 min bath using an antiseptic such as acriflavine (Ruby Reef Rally).

I've got 2 real big euphyllia. I'll watch it and if it's getting bad I'll do what you said. Thanks!

What type of euphyllia? Pictures?

Do you have a Fox Face? Cause thats EXACTLY what mine looks like when he trys to bully my foxy and she says enough is enough and spikes the crap out of the Kole.

Happens about once a every few weeks now.

I don't have one but I thought a spike from a fox face would be more lethal to a fish than just a sore. Guess not XD

FWIW; any LPS can sting a fish at night while they sleep. But euphyllia are really bad because their sweepers can extend so far. Fish are stubborn about their sleeping spot too; we videotaped a Naso that was getting stung every night by a torch coral (too large to move), and he would just keep going back to that same spot. It eventually killed him.

Fish will also brush up against anemones sometimes and this can cause oval shaped sting marks.

It could be a anemone too then. Because I've got 2 anemones in the tank

In Smaller amd even crowded larger aquariums it's not uncommon for them to accidently run into Nems and others as they dart aroumd or are startled. I'd Just watch for infection and maybe dose a tiny bit of Kents Marine Iodine as a disinfectant.
