Hello,
I'm looking for some help with a Kole Tang I have in QT. He's been in QT for maybe 3-4 weeks. Besides being very shy I have not seen any issues with him. Well 2 days ago I seen one white blotch on his side. I treated the water with metro thinking maybe it was bacterial or somehow he injured himself. Yesterday I didn't see a change with the blotch. Today when I came home from work, he has more of them on both sides of his body.

Looks bacterial to me. I would keep dosing metro every 48 hours and add vitamins to food or at least some garlic and additional algea

I agree with bacterial infection.

You may also consider adding Kanaplex and Furan-2 to your regiment. We call it the "trifecta". Very beneficial and covers a wide variety of bacterial infections.

Best option would be to get some NFG.

Well, I kept checking up on him tonight. Since he's been in qt I've never seen him act how he was acting today. Just odd, swimming near surface, doing fast spins and darting around the tank. I couldn't stand it. I kept reading forums and just thought after reading humblefish's stuff, I'll give him a FW dip. He just laid in the bottom, at first I didn't notice anything. I followed humblefish procedure for the dip, watching his breathing. Then about 1 min in, I started to see white things, then a few more, then I was just shocked. poor guy. No doubt, this has to be flukes. So the question is now, I just dosed the tank with Metroplex, how soon before I can add prazipro? Maybe I should do a huge water change, then dose?

Large water change, as much as possible and then dose prazi.

Wait 5-7 days then at least 25% WC and a second dose.

A bath in acriflavine would also be helpful soon, I still think you have a secondary bacterial infection going on. Most likely you will have to treat the fish with ABX as well.

I did a 50% water change then added prazipro. I have not given him a bath acriflavine yet, but I will, it looks like it may help him.

I was able to get a picture of him this morning. Looks like the flukes left some marks,

I’m going to do a water change tonight and do a second round of prazipro. My kole tang is looking allot better. It still has a few white marks on its side from the flukes but they appear to be healing. I plan on doing a dip with ruby rally tonight, before the water change. Thanks for the help.

Wow, my Kole tang is looking so much better and way more active. If i look closely I can still see some areas where the flukes were, but it’s improved so much, just awesome. Thanks for the help.

I don't know what happen my kole tang, he was looking so good, the wounds healed from the flukes. Eating like a machine, getting fat. Just yesterday morning I went to checked on him, he was gasping for air at the bottom of the tank hiding. I checked all the water parameters, everything seems fine. performed a large water change just in case. Today, he worse, laying on his side. Not sure what todo.:( Sadness..., I really thought I saved him. I wanted a kole tang for so long, first one had ich, went through copper, released in tank, to only get sucked into the tunze 6150. This poor guy had flukes and now, sign. I feel awful.

I'd like to try and learn from this issue. One of the only things I did notice was a bright red anus, besides the heavy breathing and open mouth I didn't notice anything else. It sucks, but QT really saved me from spreading flukes and who knows what else to my main display. Anyone have any ideas what could have caused the death?
