Does anyone know anything about the KollerCraft TOM RP3 Overflow box? I'm interested because it's self-priming and has a siphon break. Some guy on youtube is very excited about it. However, Amazon doesn't have it anymore, and I can't find it anywhere else. There's the RP30, but it's only 430gph and gets some bad reviews LiteBlue.

Does anyone:
1) Have experience with that brand/model?
2) Know where I can buy one?
3) Have an alternative favorite hang-on overflow that includes a siphon break?
An innovative overflow with built-in gravity-fed venturi system automatically primes and initiates water flow to filter sump quickly, quietly transporting aquarium water at flow rates much greater than units utilizing siphon tubes.

I ended up buying a CPR. It's worked fine so far, but the reviews do say it's hard to clean and the pump fails.

I haven't actually tried it without the pump, but I suspect it may not work by just manually starting the suction since the siphon is a huge area rather than just a tube or two. The pumps are cheap enough to just keep a spare on hand. My bigger concern is that I haven't seen any other brand of small airline water pump that like that which doesn't require priming. If they stop making them and mine breaks, do I have to buy a whole new overflow?

As for cleaning, I haven't had it long enough for that to be a problem. I suspect you could do it with a bottle brush and kitchen sink hose, but still probably a pain. It does have the nice black top, so there's no or minimal algae growing in mine after 3 months or so.

For this asking about the rp3, I still have one and plan to use it in my new tank. Regarding the syphon as long as you set the water level at sump well you will not have any problem. Ones power is back the connection between return pipe and U channel will re establish syphon.

I recommend testing a few times until you find the correct level. Also the little tube also work as a syphon break as long as you have the output nozzle leveled with surface, ones the water level go down the nozzle it will suction air and break syphon.

I only had a couple instances were the tank overflow, but spill was minimal. Problem was the pump getting dry. But with new pump with dry protection that is resolve. The only reason I didn't lost my pump was that it was a Mag 9 and those pump are immortals, still working after more than 10 years.
