N-E CICHLIDS

I have been having problems with my corals not wanting to open up. I have tested for the last week and all my water parameters are perfect. I moved my corals to my friends tank and everything opened right up and even grew over the last 3 weeks. I brought over 2 of my corals and they have not opened up since back in my tank. I bought this tank from a guy and he had it set up. I got 3 Koralia nanos from him, however only 2 had the outside magnet, so I could not use the 3rd one.
Well tonight I was inspecting the entire tank to trouble shot the issue and I found the 3rd magnet in the bottom of the sump under the live rock. The rubber area is in pretty bad shape, but the magnet looks ok. Could the magnet have been releasing small amounts of toxins into the system and ******* off the corals?
