Who’s using this and had success with either got rid of the flatworms or had better sps growth? I am not sure if I got AEFW but some of my acros are receeding, and few slow die off of euphyllias. I can see at least 10-20 flatworms on the base of euphyllias corals.

Are they the same type of flatworms? I had used flatworm exit in the past and temporarily got rid of most of them. Also, a six line wrasse seems not helping.

Any inputs are greatly appreciated

Bump!

So I read that the KZ flatworm stop doesn’t necessary kill the flatworms but rather assist sps corals to build up a slime so that the flatworms can’t eat them. Now does it applies to lps as well?

does anyone tried to kill them with flatworm exit then treat it with flatworm stop?

I’m also curious about peoples experience with using it, just to enhance coral health.

This product seems out for awhile and have heard people dosing it for better color on sps but not a lot of details on aefw vs regular flatworm if they are not the same

I hope to see some input on this thread also. I am on day 2 of dosing it and there is NO DOUBT I have AEFW.

I dipped 100 frags in Melafix 6 days ago. I basted off about 30 or so from the first four/five colonies that had obvious damage. The other 95 frags/colonies did not show much basted off.

In case you wanna know what they look like... they are impossible to see without light and a 5-10X lens when on the acros. They just blend right in. My Melanurus is fired.

Wow. I stopped using it because my euphyllias are not doing good after dosing it. My sps seems to like it. But will let it cool down a bit first.

My reading led me to STOP as a remedy for AEFW, a flatworm that specifically targets acropora. The ones pictured in my post.

Capture and photo which pest you have. Could be something different.

If I understand what you meant, according to KZ, it help strength other corals as well but not in my case. I am setting up my new build hopefully it will have over 90% sps, hate dealing with mixed reef.

Using this to fight Acoel. I’ve notice a reduction. Corals seem to love it. Question for y’all - do I keep my UV on?

A couple things here. Please link me to contrary information, but acoel are generally considered NOT to be a problem like most other flatworms are. KZ Stop is an expensive solution that is targeted toward treating acro eating flatworms. Do you have red planaria flatworms? Those are a problem solved with Flatworm Exit.

Can you get a good magnified image of your flatworm?

I had a bunch of flatworms I don't believe they were aefw. I used it and added a melanarus Wrasse. It made my Acros color up nice the flatworms disappeared after adding the melanarus. Im

I am on week 9-10 of treating with KZ Stop for AEFW.

While I cannot with certainty pinpoint which element of my treatment plan is actually doing the most work, I can say it is certainly working. My last few dips have left none/one/two worms in the bowl versus dozens in the beginning. Here are the basic points of treatment on my 300G frag system with 80+ SPS frags and colonies:

1) Based on advice from another STOP thread, I have increased dosing to 2X recommended level.
2) I am also dosing the KZ Boost product at the recommended dose.
3) Dip every 6-7 days every SPS. Alternate between Melafix (tea tree oil) and Bayer.
4) Basting the colonies/frags with a pump and hose every so often.
5) Tried increasing wrasse population but somebody (domino damsel pair most likely) keeps killing new fish.

Observations:

1) My AEFW have taste preferences. A given acro would have several worms while adjacent acros have none.
2) Both dips work to dislodge worms, Melafix maybe quicker but much more harsh on acros. I had 4-5 coral losses from dipping. Five minutes heavy basting.
3) At my volume, KZ Stop is expensive.
4) Eggs are challenging to see/remove. An LED lit lense is a must.
5) The worms are perfectly camouflaged. You are unlikely to see them unless you can get them dislodged. Translucent, taking on the color of the host coral. 1/8th to 1/4 inch.
6) I believe six-lines to be superior predators for AEFW. They are small enough to reach tight spots. My large Melanurus was not making progress.
7) Every fish in the tank will happily eat the worms if you baste the corals. I clamp a maxjet to the side and baste with a soft silicone hose and fish would frenzy.

If you are reading this thread, I wish you much luck and patience. Long haul.

hey Scott - didn’t want them to reproduce and have an unsightly infestation. For identification, I started another thread and all of the replies confirmed that they were in fact acoel. I’ve posted pictures below.

I understand it’s expensive but I’ve concluded everything in this hobby is expensive!

Wow that is quite a healthy population of them. My wrasses would LOVE to stop over there for a play date sometime. :)

I cannot tell for sure whether or not you have a sandbed (which most wrasses require). If you do have sand, just one wrasse will wipe them out. I keep mason jars of sand in my frag systems for wrasses to sleep in.

Mason jars!! That’s genius. No sand bed. I’ve added a 6 line recently. Let’s see if it helps. Send your wrasses over any time!

I have used almost a bottle. I was dosing daily consistently 5ml on my 120 for a few months but not sure if it did anything. I will finish it but won’t be purchasing again as it’s expensive and felt like it was just another snake oil.

Wanted to bump this. I was told flatworm stop has a high concentrations of iodine. Should I ween my tank off of it?
I don't recall seeing any sign of this in ICP results on my system. We don't know what all is in there, but it did not leave much residual Iodine in my tank.
