Wondering if Anyone here has ever tested their Copper Medication straight out of the box?
Anyways... I just tested my copper in my (QT) Quarantine Tank and got a reading of "0.0 mg/l"!
The idea is to slowly raise the copper level in my QT a 3 mg/l over a month for my new powder blue tang. (Also known as an Ich magnet)
I dosed a small dose last week and was checking my water today so I know what water changes to do later and how much to add this week. And it was at "0". (Palm to face) Maybe I did my math wrong last week, or I did my test wrong.
Two retests later and I am at "0" Copper
Okay, so I re-read my copper instructions and check my tank logs to see what I did.
(Per my notes I added the correct amount)
However, I have an eye for detail and before I go and dump more medication into my tank I think why not test it? The medication straight out of the bottle. Seems crazy (Should go instant Dark Blue and I'm a not as methodical as I thought)
So at this point, I pour 10 ml of medication into my Sera Kupfer copper test kit. Shake both reagents. Add 7 drops of each as the directions state. And wait the 5 min. Tick-Tock TickTock
And my reading of 100% medication is as it turns color is Drum Roll Please......
0.1 mg/l to 0.2 mg/l
Meaning my medication is only 0.1 mg/l meaning I can dump the whole dang bottle in - or- my test kit is bad.
The expiration date of medication is 02/2019.
The expiration date of the test kit is 03/2019.
