I bought 60lbs of there live rock and had it air shipped in water. First I want to say this live rock is amazing with the life on it. Would not hesitate to order again and again. When I first open one of the box’s I noticed a tiny black mantis shrimp round around in the bottom of the bag. So I grab him and put him in my sump. After putting all the rock in my tank I have been hearing another one somewhere in the rocks. I have been going out of my mind trying to find him and catch him. I have been putting in the bottle trap and the only thing I would catch would be my wrasse. Out of no where I finally saw my wrasse chasing him in to the Conner of my tank. I was able to grab a net and pull him out. This thing is big about an 1 1/2in to 2in long. Just wanted to share a couple pictures of them. I put a 10ml syringe next to them for size reference.

Nice! I kind of hoped I’d find a mantis at the bottom of my bag, but I only scored a few pistol shrimp. Can you get a closer pic with better light? I’d like to ID the species if I can.

This makes me want to order rock from those guys. My tank already has plenty though! Could I just swap rocks if I did?
I wouldn’t advise it because you’ll cause a biological imbalance in the tank for a while. If you have more sensitive coral species, you could stress or possibly kill them.

Once he is about an inch and a half it will kill all of you fish, and cut your finger if you can catch it. They make great bait for Red Drum fishing but I always throw them on the deck of the boat and then step on it to make sure it is dead before I put them on my hook. lol. just saying.

But wouldn’t this also add to the tank? Could I add it than in a week remove unwanted or unneeded rock?

edit
And I’m not talking about removing all my rock just a piece or two

Biological “imbalance”, not destruction. Stability is important. There’s another thread here on R2R where someone was experiencing die off among their coral, and they had made changes to their live rock. If you don’t have sensitive coral, go for it, but it’ll take a few months for everything to reach a new equilibrium.
