KPA live rock hitchhikers

Just got 40 lbs of live rock in. Shipped around 5pm yesterday and got here at 10am. Definitely a little freaky with the critters you get but really cool. But I found a couple worms and some other things that I don’t know if they’re safe but thought they were. Here’s some pictures. I know the last couple arent critters but it’s pretty to me and i have no clue what it is.

That’s some pretty rock lol. You will probably get some peanut worms come in, fire or bristle worms will come in and that’s inevitable in this hobby. I never had a tank that hadn’t have a single fire worm hiding in the sand.

Yeah I purposefully put in some bristle worms cuz I’ve heard they’re good for the system just hoping none were fireworks but they didn’t look like it.

Most likely is some sort of filter feeding bivalve. Fire worms aren’t the end of the world. They are scavengers so sometimes if you can’t Get to a dead fish in time to remove it before it rots, they will and help so the ammonia does not rise much.

Back when I started you could get a 55 lb box of fresh premium rock with plenty of critters and nice macro algae’s. The only worry is listening to pops from mantis shrimp. Nowadays you pay an arm and a leg to get rock with even fake color on it .

Yeah for sure. I’m definitely pleased with this. Lots of life and some macro algae on it

I just got a shipment from KPA this morning, too. I got 25lbs for a new 20g cube, including some extra to thrown in my Reefer 350. I'm a total rookie, so I can make guesses, but would like some ID help and advice as well. (Thanks for letting me hop on this thread, Joseph!)

This is what I found in the paper. What should I keep and what should I toss?

Looks like a baby mantis shrimp tucked into some urchin.

Pic of the urchin without the mantis.

Pistol shrimp and something crawly.

Some kinda star.

Another urchin? Sorry it's blurry.

There is a bristle worm, too, but it doesn't look like a menacing type.

I added straight to DT, it’s a new tank so it’s being used as a means of cycling as well.

+1 on the urchins. They look to be pencil urchins, I got at least one in my rock as well. They are considered reef safe but you should keep an eye on them as they get bigger.

Is this a bobbit worm? Or good bristle worm?

That might be a eunicid worm (family that includes bobbits and some other, less nightmare-inducing critters). Typical bristle worms don't have antennae like that.

Haven't decided. I'm leaning toward no. Here's a little better top down photo. I haven't been able to ID it. It appears to have some orange tips on the tail and legs.
