Kraken v. ClearView

Hated my Clearview... at least the ones with the 'joints' that they snap together. I replaced it with an Octo Aquatics lid which is fantastic. Communication is about 1000 times better as well.

Clearview lids are fantastic. They can also ship single-piece larger lids than Kraken. On a Kraken, anything larger than 24" has to come in 2 or more pieces (for a 6ft tank it's 3 pieces), with Cleaview it's 36" I believe. TopLids is also great, however, they are monumentally more expensive than either ClearView or Kraken

I have the clearview and while its beautiful and expensive, given the opportunity i would get the Kraken instead. Has a very cool feeder door style that is perfect for autofeeders.

Hadn't heard of them until I read your post and decided to google... It's unfortunate he just says "clear plastic" and not the specific type of plastic he's using... Acrylic, Polycarbonate, etc. Some plastics will bow or sag over time, especially some types of acrylic. Acrylic and other clear plastics will also brown/yellow over time (moreso than polycarbonate). And lastly this statement, which kind of has me laughing...

Did you get the classic, the tsunami, or the Pisces Exo? If it's either of the last two, you can swap one of the pieces with a new piece cut exactly how you want the feed door. You just need a crude drawing with dimensions and they will make it happen.

I got the tsunami for my 200XL ... $212 was the price :(
that's not too much more than a Kraken... Kraken with no extra cuts for a 200XL is $179

And, you don't have the option to modify it like you do with yours... any modification would require a full new lid... whereas you can simply replace sections on yours... switch lights/mounts, no problem... So not sure why you've got a sad face?

I added a feeder door on mine. Paying over $200 for a lid is bit pricey , but i guess thats how it goes with the hobby.

My tank is 4ft long and they shipped it in one piece! It was a long but but so glad they did as I didn’t want 2 half lids

which company? I asked Kraken about 3-4 months ago if they could do a single piece lid and they outright refused, sait it had something to do with their shipping deal with UPS or whoever they're going through
