Here is the next project. I needed a skimmer for this tank so I got an Aquamaxx HOB-1 and then did a couple of modifications to it so that it would fit better. On the tank.
So first was shortening the return tube so that the elbow doesn't extend so far into the filter box and block the lid from opening. So I cut 1" off of the length of the pipe.
Here is how the elbow fit originally before the trim.
Here is how it fit after the trim.
Then I needed to trim the pick up tube as well so I cut the same amount off of it.
Here is how much I trimmed off.
Here is how it fit before the trim.
Here is how it fit after the trim.
Here is the fit with the down tube installed.
Here is the spot that the skimmer will go on the tank.
Here is the skimmer on the tank. You can see how trimming the pipes moved the connections back to leave some room for the lid to open. It also made it fit around all the other equipment I have in there.
And from the other direction. You can see how tight it is in there with all the other stuff in there. Float switches, pumps, GFO reactor tubes (that the white ones), return pumps, UV and the filter basket with the floss on top.
Here is what it looked like looking over the top of the tank. You can see the skimmer cup and the air tubing the rest of the skimmer is not very visible from the front.
Sorry about these other extra pictures. I couldn't find a way to figure out which ones I had inserted and which ones I hadn't so that I could remove the extras. That part was a little frustrating. I'll have to be more careful when adding pictures next time and only do the ones I really want.
