My 75 gallon reef tank is four months old and I noticed one of the four heads on my kryptonite coral looks like it has been eaten. The skeleton is exposed. I have two ocelaris clown and one Helfrichi firefish. I have no crabs and only snails. I have live rock so it might be a hitchiker that I have not seen. I was even thinking maybe salt creep, but I am not sure what happened to it. My question is there anything I can do to save it or do you think I will lose it. My parameters are all in check. My two zoanthids, devils hand, toadstool and purple frogspawn all are fine. Nothing else has been changed in the tank. Any advice would be appreciated.

I am assuming it is a Kryptonite Candycane...

There are many different things that can cause an issue like this but a predator is probably not the reason.

You said "My parameters are all in check." Can you please post what parameters you tested, what value they were at, and the test kit you used for the test?

Also what do you have for lighting?

By the way, Welcome to Reef2Reef!

I have LED lighting one hour blue LED in mornng, 10 hours white/blue LED and one hour blue in evening. I forgot to mention I have been running carbon/GFO reactor 1/2 dose for one month. Salinity 1.025 with refractometer. Alk 7.6 Hanna checker, Ammonia 0 Salfiert, calcium 443 salfiert, Nitrate 2 Salfiert, Nitrite 0 Salfiert, PH 8.0 Salfiert, Phosphate 0 Hanna checker and Magnesium was low at 600. I use RO/DI water. I do 5 gallon water change a week. I noticed a brown spot on the other two heads of my green kryptonite candy cane coral today. I have an Diablo 160XS skimmer and a 30 gallon e-shopps refugium. I use Red Sea coral pro salt. Thank you for responding and for your welcome. Is there anything I can do to save this coral? Temp is 78. I have auto-top off and Koralia wave 2- 750's and one 550.

Feed it as much mysis as you can, at night at first. Those things will eat like a horse and it will help it to live.
