Seriously considering vacuuming out the sandbed. Just not sure I'm going to be happy with the bare bottom look.

Hang in there. I vacuumed mine out slowly about a quarter of it each water change. By by to diatoms!

Thanks man. I'm really pulling my hair out here. I think this is going to be my next step. This morning things aren't looking great. Acros are not happy. Hoping for the best

Yep, I've tangled with that a time or two. What I did was vacuum. Hired some CUC members who were skilled in that area and haven't seen any since. I think your tanks would look awesome bare bottom though. You can even run some blue leds underneath your tank and at night shut all your lights down and the underside of your rocks will glow blue. Did that on my friends tank and it looks really cool. Just thought I would throw that out there man

Thanks for the encouragement man. I appreciate it. Been thinking about throwing in the towel for a bit. Still not sure. Going to wait it out and no make a rash frustrated decision.

I would hate to see you give up. You've got an awesome tank! Get a clean up crew in there, it's pretty amazing how good of a job they can do. Have you tried Seachem Phosguard, I personally don't have experience with it, but it's supposed to remove phosphates & silicate.

Thank you guys I really appreciate it! I've tried everything I can think of. Vacuuming them, lights out, phosguard, no water changes hoping they would starve themselves out, increased cuc and a new rodi unit. I'm at a loss of what else to try at this point.

Well, maybe you should remove the sand, since nothing else has worked. I'm sorry you've been so frustrated. This hobby is supposed to be fun, but that is not always the way it is.

I think that's what I'm going to do. It's funny my girlfriend looked at me and said the same thing the other night....lol

Have you tested the phosphate level and in my experience GFO worked better than phosgaurd and also what is your lighting intensity and schedule like

Po4 stays pretty consistently at .02 in my tank. I tried gfo first and then switched to the phosguard to see if it made a difference, it didn't. I also tried lights out for 3 days, they went away but came right back. A few days ago I siphoned off about 1/4" of sand during my water change and I am seeing an improvement. Hopefully it keeps going this way. Lighting is 6 bulb t5. 2 bulbs for 10hrs and the ful 6 for 4 hours.

Have you tried chemi-pure elite/blue? That wiped mine clean in the biocube. It's been a few months now and have not bought anymore and it's coming back. Replaced it 4 days ago and it's going away (slowly)

I have contemplated removing my sand as well. It never stays clean, never!

I have not. May give it a try, nothing to loose at this point.
