KT’s Office/Man Cave build thread

Not bad, each tank has two 3/4" drains with Herbie overflows into a acrylic overflow box. they then combine into a 2" drain pipe underneath. Most of the noise is coming from where the water enters the sump/filter sock area. I extended to pipe to submerge the 2" drain, 1" into the sock and that cut about 70% of it. Over flows are quiet. once everything is cased in and cabinets hopefully be almost nothing. fingers crossed.
Nice!

...are you planning to leave it open top, or cabinet/enclose the lights also?

Definitely going to enclose the top, and create a matching casework bottom similar to my old office tank. The good new on this one is the fish room. So now I can go behind the tank to work on it rather thank lifting the doors and working from the front on my old setup.

Ok- so for this tank I wanted to go with three main floating islands.. and put a majority of SPS on those. so below is a video of one of the island I made, and then some pics of the three in the tank for size and scale.

the tank is very deep so perspective is different on this one. once I realized how far I could pull them forward I ended up making two smaller islands in the back which I am still working on the get the right look.. But overall I am very happy with this vs teh "wall" had in my last tank due to the depth issue.

For the lighting I made a custom rack to hold 6 AI hydras.. this give me the ability to adjust the height and arrangements of legs I put over the tank.

Over the Frag tank I am running a RB.. I still love these LED's and honestly think they throw a ton of par and have no complaints with their new wireless app. I find it better than AI's.

Excited to start a new thread on my new office build and track the journey!

I’ve had aquariums for 12 years. Started with a fresh water tank, and 3 months later i knocked a wall out in my old home and built a 400g aggressive fish tank. From there got into some corals started a reef and havent looked back. I love the challenge of a SPS dominant yet mixed reef.

Here is my old home office set up. consists of a 210g display with a 70G frag tank and a 90g sump.

My kind of office- Very tastefully done

So here is how I did the water changing amd ATO. Situation.. I placed the containers up in my mezzanine area and pre ran wires and plumbing. Right now I am still manual. But once done I will have this controlled with the apex..

When I turn the ball valves I can gravity feed 65g in about 3 minutes.. this saves me a ton of time from my last WC setup..

For ATO.. I wire is ram from the tunze in the sump up to this mezzanine to trigger the pump out of the clean water container.
So far no issues and very clean for manual. Excited to get it programmed and running more routine water changes.

The reef have been doing really well. Had a few week hair algae bloom on the new white rock I brought in and it took care of itself along with my typical maint.. the sps amd corals are all good and healthy.. no loses from the move.. seeing lots of growth and progression so I will keep moving from frag tanks to display and start loading up on some new corals

Long time since an update..

The system is running great. Coral growth has been good and about to send out my first water test..

Work has been crazy (land development and custom homes) so I still need to finish the woodwork.. but overall I am very happy with the system. Equipment, lighting etc..

I did just get all new AI 52’s I have some new and some old.. for anyone who runs them would know the frustration connecting to the old version vs the Bluetooth. Couple quick photos
