Kuiters leopard transitioning question

You can always send him here, he's more than welcome.;)
Lol I have to recoup, I spend way too much money on fish. I try to subsidize my expenditures hahaha

Never said I wouldn't pay you for him. I spend way too much on fish and corals too.
Haha the shipping cost would cost as much as I would sell the dang fish for! It's outrageous!

Yeah I think we need FA. Fishahlocs anonynous

We do need FA, i just went in to my LFS where the owners and I have become friends and he had a pair of Naoko's wrasse. Very nice! Was going to sell em to me for$100. Had to resist, wife would kill me right now.

My wife is a pharmacist I think she's plotting a death for me no one will be able to pin on her! :D

And is it always female to male? If I only have one, would it transition on it's own?
Wrasses are protogynous hermaphrodites, meaning females transition to male in the wild as harem conditions and space require. They are all females as a juvenille.
If kept on their own, a female often transitions (a bit genus dependent).
I think you'll find this worth reading: All About Reef Safe Wrasses

Yes, males cannot revert to females.
Terminal males cannot, but transitional males can revert back. Not a common scenario however, and exceedingly rare in captivity.

With most species, a female will turn male often even in the presence of other males of the same species.
It's much more genus dependent than anything. Macropharyngodon (leopards), Halichoeres, and Anampses females are all pretty likely to remain female with a male of the same species present (but not guaranteed), whereas Cirrhilabrus and Paracheilinus females almost never stay female regardless of a males presence.

But there's no "rules" here; only guidelines.

Wrasses don't like to follow rules. They're badasses

I've had female Kuiteri for quite sometime and she's perfectly happy staying a female.

Hopefully my transitioning turd decides she wants to be a full male.
