Hi everyone,

Never posted my build thread on here so figured now is a good time to start. Tank is about six months old, but I have pictures from the beginning!

Yes, its an Orbit IC light, I also have an Aquatic Life Reef Edge on the tank now. This picture is pretty old and I've made a lot of changes since then. The xenia died in a drug overdose, and plenty of corals have been added. The powerheads were also switched for two MP-40s

Do you think mp40s are too much for that tank? the reason I ask is I'm hoping to upgrade to a 75 soon and I have a pair of mp10's that I was hoping to switch over but it may not be enough

I have both of mine on the back glass just for aesthetics of the tank and I don’t think they’re too much. I keep them both below half power though. I’m sure you would be fine using the two 10s on the ends if you just crank them up a bit! ;)

I guess technically it would also depend on how you lay out your rockwork and what types of corals you wish to keep. But I’m sure you could make it happen instead of spending 500 dollars on 2 40s. If you find it lacking I bet you could always add a ten on the back glass.

I was just thinking that lol. Add one on the back glass in the center and run reef crest or lagoon mode. I can always find a used wireless mp10 on here :)

Update: Added my first fish after fallow period! Female ornate leopard wrasse. I had her in QT for three days where she got a round of Prazipro, but she wasn't eating with the other fish so I added her to the DT. She is alone in the DT so if needed issues can still be addressed. She immediately seemed more comfortable in the DT! Didn't bury in the sand or anything, she immediately started picking pods off the rockwork instead. First food she has eaten since I got her. Happy to see her eat. However, I have noted an issue with my large montipora frag I got from a club member. I found a nudi on the front glass and proceeded to inspect the coral for montipora eating nudibranchs, but didn't see any. I increased the flow across it too since it seemed to be getting a bit of algae buildup. Im assuming the majority of the tissue is dead now, but hope it might come back.

FTS. I've been having problems with my SPS recently. Gave my corals to a friend to babysit until we can figure it out. Even took a water sample to my reef club meeting and they double checked it. My potassium was a bit low ~360, Calcum 450, Alk 8, ph 7.8 SG 1.025, Temp 78, nitrates below 5, phosphate 0. Threw a poly-pad in to see if it would pull anything out. got nothing.

Just won the Salifert Test Kit giveaway on R2R!!! My tank has been having a bit of a struggle with SPS recently, so this will help me figure out what the problem is. Thanks @Berlibee

Haven’t posted on here in a while. Since my last post I’ve added a maxima clam, two clownfish, and a few new corals. Nutrients are still testing around 0 phosphate and 0 nitrate so I’m hoping the new clownfish help boost my nutrients some. Actually just added the clownfish today after being quarantined.

Got a few corals from Sanjay’s tank last weekend at a frag swap in PA! 24k gold milliepora, Texas pink lordhowensis, and rouge milliepora (not from Sanjay). Starting to get some good PE.

I think it was one of his friends who had fragged some of his tank for him. I had a buddy pick up these corals and he said Sanjay was there. He scored some sweet corals too. Look at the blue corals he got :D:D:D

Looking to add a few more fish to the tank, it seems kinda empty with the gobies hiding the majority of the time. Current stock list is: Yellow longnose butterfly, ornate leopard wrasse, two clownfish, tangaroa goby, mandarin, cleaner shrimp, blood red fire shrimp, and a variety of corals. Was considering basically anything. Anthias, gobies, wrasses, tang, not really sure. Any advice based on what I have currently?

Things are going well in the tank. Struggling a bit to manage my alkalinity, but testing daily or every other day helps keep the swings down. I’m currently trying to manage my alk by mixing baking soda into my ato with mixed results. My calcium has been fine the whole time (around 480).
