Do a google/RC search on Aquarium Water Testing, only reviews I have read on them were terrible.
Quote from Randy Holmes-Farley
I don't believe there was a basis provided for his lack of confidence - I suspect it may have been a simple lack of experience or lack of hearing good things about them. I don't think he actually used the service, did he?
FWIW, I have used AWT's service a fair amount and thought they provided a good service with consistent, believable results.
They will not be results that you can compare to your results from your Salifert kit, however - which I suspect accounts for 100% of the poo-poo's on that other site. A bit of interpretation is required, and just like with your Salifert kits the idea is to compare successive tests - not compare tests between different kits. (Are you testing the water, or the kit???

)
As you might imagine, these tests aren't for everyone - you'll never use the results in a testing+dosing scenario, for example. If you really want to know about calcium and alkalinity, just get a new set of Salifert kits.
Where I might suggest testing like this is for things that are hard-to-impossible or expensive to test for at home like Iodine, Potassium and a few other params they do. There are quite a few "second tier" tests like that which may be interesting, depending on your scenario.

P.S. There's no relation that I'm aware of, but I thought it was an interesting coincidence that the AWT folks are located literally around the corner in Colorado from Hach chemicals. (High end testing gear mfgr.)
