I have a 270 4x4 cube. I like smaller fish but have an aggressive emporer angel, blue Fiji devil and social wrasse. I am not removing them, but they aren't the kindest to new friends. I am tempted to try a larger dottyback, such as a Labracinus cyclophthalmus. Can this be a problem in a tank this size?

It doesn't seem like there's much information on the firetail dottyback, other than it can grow to 22cm. I've never seen one myself, so it sounds like they're fairly uncommon.

I've had several dottybacks, and they've gotten along with all my fish (including an emperor and several wrasses) - but they were also the smaller variety, ie: orchid, indigo, neon and striped.

I mean 8 inch says it all… if a 4 inch dottybacks is going to be aggressive in small tanks, I think an 8 inch dottybacks would be a hell wrecker in even the medium sized tanks.

I've never seen aggression from a dottyback, only read about it. But I've never had a saltwater tank smaller than 120 or had a 4 inch dottyback. One vendor site for these says they get up to 17 inches, and a few random posts talks about 12 inch specimens. My guess is they max out around 8 inches, and the others are misidentified, but I really have no idea.
