Lack of thread respone from mods

I think you got some good info. I agree your plumbing needs were above the average reefer's skill level. Maybe using an @ for the member you were talking to would have been helpful. I'm sure she would have been happy to walk you through it. I do know she's been working on an emergency build of her own.

Mods are moderators, not paid reef aquarium support staff at our beck and call. “Supporting Member” and “Partner Member” are not about ensuring better response to questions either.

I'm not trying to be rude, but if you want to pay for something, and get something back for it, hire an aquarium setup/maintenance company to come out and do it for you. The money you pay to support the site is a donation from the good of your heart, not a payment for a service. The responses to your thread explain what you can do very well, but if you do not understand what they are saying, it might be best to have a local person come out to either help you or do it for you. Is there a club in your area? If so join that , and I'm sure you'll find some very handy people with plumbing skills who can assist you.

mods dont know everything, they know ALOT and are amazing but they dont know everything. your thread seems to be a bit specific on plumbing needs and had some action on it. regardless of the level member you are does not mean you will get more or less responses. there are usually thousands of people browsing this forum at any time and all have zero to an encyclopedia worth of knowledge. its a bit of your mileage my vary with thread action but i have found this forum the fastest moving, some threads get buried in minutes, and people dont usually scroll past the first page or 2.

Yes, I understand this, but thought they would direct me to someone that could help. I am just feeling frustrated about not being able to get this up and running. I did ask a local shop to help me but they wanted over $400 to do it. I couldn't do that.

When I had plumbing questions in the past I went to a plumbing store and asked a ton of questions and they were happy to help. Even a man a Lowe’s stepped in and said hey I don’t know what is and isn’t fish safe but change this and this and it will work. So maybe try a local plumbing store. Can’t hurt right

As a reef squad leader, I try to check the unanswered section a couple times a day and reply where I can help. The majority of my contribution involves fish disease.

Keep in mind paying to be a partner member is to support the site, helping with server expenses etc. To keep it up and running.

Mods have duties as well. They deal with reports, unruly members, and help police vendors and make sure people are following the TOS.

None of us are compensated financially for this donated time and dedication. We do this out of our love for the hobby, helping others, and the forum. Not for a monetary gain.

If I were in your neck of the woods I could come help. I really would as I help folks close to me but it costs them a 6 pack of Mountain Dew.

An LFS is gonna charge for any service rendered as I'm certain you understand. IMHO the $400 very well might be worth it. It would or should be flawless if a well known reputable Brick & Mortar LFS.

If so this type of sit up is not a standard aquarium setup. I have had units set up like this when I was breeding clown fish. An it takes so tinkering to get the flows right thru each section. Kind of hard to do in an aquarium thread and not every hobbyist is going to be able to shed light on your issues. Especially if they do not have it right in front of them to see where the flow issues are.
If you are wanting to QT fish this is not a good setup as each fish QT needs to be separate and a way from the other qt Tanks as many fish diseases can be spread from water spray cross contamination as well as using the same tools in all the tanks. Interconnected tanks are for keeping fish that have passed thru a QT plan and are healthy.

Yes, this is the thread. I understand this is not the usually QT system. But for what I am attempting to do I want this kind of set up. I am trying to make pairs so I will be buying 5 or 6 of the same kind of fish at the same time and letting them sort out who pairs with who. So I want the dividers to separate a needed. And they will be coming from the same source so I think they will have probably been in a system all hooked together anyway. so I am not worried about cross contamination. I just want to know the best way to plumb these two tanks into one sump. Maybe I need two returns pumps, or gate value on returns to control flow between the two,which is some of the questions asked in this thread. Thanks.
