Has anyone ever had these things invade your tank? I have literally hundreds of dead baby lady bugs in my sump. How much danger is involved with this?

Every fall I have the same problem. Just remove them and don't squish them as they release oils. Otherwise no ill effects.

i had one clog my cpr overflow one time and almost flooded the tank. I hate lady bugs!

Sheesh!!! Maybe you could talk them into leaving :sure:

"If agitated or squashed, the beetles may exhibit a defensive reaction known as “reflex bleeding,” in which a yellow fluid with an unpleasant odor is released from leg joints."

I hate those stupid bugs ... them and the box elder bugs! I'm netting them out of my tanks and sump every fall and spring!

In the fall just after they cut the soy beans they are all over looking for a warm place to winter. I love to find the people that imported them to eat soy bean aphids.

they are not Lady bugs, Asian Lady Beetle, PITB!!! They look for warm areas to winter then as it warms up in spring go out again.
FACT SHEET: The Multicolored Asian Lady Beetle

"But the first populations were not found in this country until 1988 in Louisiana near the busy port of New Orleans."

I disagree with that quote.
I personally have seen them well before 1988. I seen and knew what they were well before I started kindergarden and that was in 1983. Nevertheless there was a lot in that article that I did not know about them.
