I use Lamotte test for alk and I drop the last chemical until the color is "just right" and put it down on the table. When I come back in 5 minutes the color has changed a little bit to the blue side indicating it would need more chemical. According to the instructions there is no "waiting period" after adding the drops so I'm not sure. (My alk may be better than I think it is!)

Anyone else ever noticed this?

IME with LaMotte kits the "reading" should be taken at the first sign of color change... I actually called them on this when I first purchased one of their kits a while back...

Other kits do this as well; the first sign of color change is the correct end point as stunreefer points out. LaMotte's a very good kit IMO/IME for alkalinity, tough to read the end point for Ca.

Okay, my thread didnt work. Which kits do you use for Ca? Does Lamotte have a good Mg kit? I like their kits but they have so many. Which ones are the right ones? I use 4491-DR for Alk and I think it works great, but for Ca and Mg, Im not sure.
