I’ve used lanthanum chloride in the past to lower phosphate. I’ve always used the drip into a filter sock method. I’ve recently had some pulmonary issues and have been trying to find a way to still use it without having all the dust associated with dying and cleaning the socks. I’ve tried a couple different ways to clean the socks and drying and beating the dust out before washing rinsing seems to be the most effective way. If I don’t beat them before it doesn’t seem like I can get all the residue out no matter how I wash rinse. This has been my most cost effective way to lower phosphate in a larger system. I do run a ats , curators fuge, over sized skimmer , and bacto reef balls and lots of live rock in the sump. I still have high levels of phosphate. My guess is feeding and bioload , unless I’m leaching a lot from carbon. Any input would be great .
