I've been researching lanthanum usage, and I'm considering it in my current tank. The issue is it seems the generally accepted practice is to dose it into a filter sock or skimmer to catch the precipitate. I'm sump-less and skimmer-less, so I'm wondering just how risky small daily doses directly into the water column are? I'm bare bottom and vacuum detritus weekly, so I'd imagine I'd get most of it, and it seems if I do it with small doses I won't have to worry about the particles getting into into the gills of livestock? Or, should I just grab a filter sock and find a creative way to hang it in the tank a couple days a week to dose? Side note, who carries 10 micron socks? Everyone seems to carry 200 micron, seems difficult to find. Would a small HOB filter with some filter floss be a good substitute?

I would say a small HOB with some filter floss or a pad would be a great idea.
