Hi all. I have a 150g display tank and have two fish in which I’m struggling to decide what to do it is a FOWLR tank. I have a large Annularis angel and a raccoon butterfly the rest would be fine to copper. My question is could I do copper on this fish with success or would I most likely kill them. If anyone has an effective ich treatment that would be helpful.

hi,lets get some expert eyes on this :) #reefsquad

To clarify you're wanting to conduct copper treatment because you're trying to eradicate?

I suggest setting up a separate QT tank to administer the copper treatment. The fish will adapt to the copper if you add ramp up the levels slowly. Have you decided on which type of copper you'd like to use? I have had great success with Cupramine but that is just my personal preference. All my angels have gone through it and I didn't lose any of them or have any issues.

I’m trying to irradiate ich or flukes it’s too soon to tell the difference. But I’m wanting to do it in my display if possible. I used to have coral and I switched to a FOWLR because I wanted to be able to have expensive fish without taking them out. I don’t exactly have the room to set up another quarantine big enough.
The type of copper I was considering was Copper Power Marine or Coppersafe.
When you treated your angelfish with copper did you go slow ramping it up?

I have all my fish in a 150g stock tank in the garage while I go fallow for velvet. I used coppersafe and ramped up to 2.0 over 3 days. Didn't lose anyone. I have multiple tangs, a pair of dwarf angels, several wrasses and gobies.

If you truly have a FOWLR with live rock, the rock will absorb some of the copper and leach it back out later. That is why removal and fallow period are preferred, even for a FOWLR.
