I have a 40 gallon breeder, with 20 gallon long sump. I just recently found out I have large cell amphidinium. I checked with my lfs, and they referred me to your article here on reef to reef. It is all over my sandbed rocks, corals, etc. Livestock, and nems appears to be ok. My lfs said to purchase some SpongeExcel, with I did. I read the instructions, and I added 2 drops in my tank yesterday. Is this sufficient? I read your article about not doing water changes, also that UV doesn't help much with this type, but possibly adding some live rock will? Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Is 2 drops enoughof the spongeexcel? I have live rock that has been out of the tank for a while. Will that do anything, or should I buy some more live rock? I really have no idea on this, as I have never had it.

Prepare by starting with a water change and blow this stuff loose with a turkey baster and siphon up loose particles. Turn lights off (at least white and run blue at 10-15% IF you have light dependant corals) for 5 days and at night dose 1ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide per 10 gallons for all 5 nights. If you dont have light dependent coral- turn all lights off. During the day dose 1ml of liquid bacteria (such as micro bacter 7 or XLM) per 10 gallons. Clean filters daily and DO NOT FEED CORAL FOODS OR ADD NOPOX

I have several fish, and several anemones, plus a few octospawn, mushrooms. I am doing the spongexcel for the second day today. I pretty much have blue lights on, very little white. So I would need to run the hydrogen peroxide, but is that ok with the spongexcel? I have not been running the skimmer the last few days. Should I turn on. I was told not to do a water change. Should I now do one using the spongexcel?

Yes with peroxide. You Must kill the whites as dino is photosynthetic and can feed off any light
