So im starting to plan my upgrade from my 80 to at least a 300+. I talked to a tank manufacture and they recommended not going 10' because of the extra stress on the bottom. Also going deeper than 24" is sketch for a 8'+

Anyone got tanks or experience with bigger tanks and what to order?

i.e. Making (or buying) a custom plywood tank instead of doing a custom glass tank. The cost effective point is about that 250-300 gallon mark where you are looking at. Plywood tanks, when built right, will last a lifetime as opposed to glass tanks that definitely have a life span.

If you wanted to go really big your two best options are either acrylic (expensive as all get out) or plywood.

I know acrylic is more common with big tanks i just hate the scratching and they never look as clear to me

i know someone who has an 8' x 24" x 24"....no prob at all

i have a plywood tank...its great, i can make any size i want cheap and strong, but as far as glass goes, work with your builder and defer, they are the most experienced ones.

ok i dont get it...plywood tank? please provide pics

the plywood concept is something I've never heard about either. I'm ready to learn something new though..... :)

I custom ordered a glass 400 allon from oceanic. 60" x 44" x 33"

Tank came in, well packed and crafted with the best of quality.

Look into the Marineland Deep Dimension aquariums... I have seen several in person and the dimensions are outstanding (ex. 300G 6x3x3').

I thought this was a April fools joke with the plywood, then I looked into it and I WANTTTT SOOO BADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
