Years ago, maybe 10-15 years ago or something I participated in a large random frag swap. I believe it was on RDO and we all signed up on the thread then were sent a random persons Name and Address from the guy that set it all up and you sent them a random zoa or paly frag. It was free and you just paid your own shipping out to whom ever address you got PMed. In return someone else got yours and youu got a random zoa or paly in the mail.

It was really just a fun random thing to do and I do think a couple people got nothing and so the guy that set it up took care of them. Over all though I remember it as a fun experience and got a nice zoa frag from a random reefer.

Not sure this type of thing is ever done any more.

This was always a cool idea, but I think the costs of overnight shipping have really turned ppl away from this these days. If you got a person who lives in California and you're from the east coast shipping will run you almost $100 these days.

Frag swaps have really taken off lately and see to be the way to go when it comes to getting nice frags locally

Even back then cost of shipping was why we did palys/zoas and used USPS priority which was like $15. I think we all bought some thermos as wal-mart or something to ship in for like $3.

My problem with frag swaps is I am a hermit lol. Seriously tho my free time now a days is all dominated by skiing and dirt biking with my son. Getting to a frag swap is something I need to do tho.

Frag swaps are a good time, they only poption up a few times a year, I take my family to them all the time. I see you are from PA but not sure exactly where. I'm from the Pittsburgh area so I have the Ohio swaps available to me which are always good.

I think that as the Internet has had more influence, local events became common enough that the Pony Express version died out.

Since your location is Paoli, you should check out the Facebook group "Southeastern PA Reef Aquarium Classifieds." It's pretty active around you, though several of the mainstays of the group are LFS owners. They seem to be a pretty good bunch overall and the couple I've met are.

40$ of you use shipnex. I could probably do one frag for even less than that. I just paid 47 to send a box with about 7 frags from ct to ca.
