Large pink patch found under Hollywood stunner chalice! ID help!

It was late and stupid me didn't snap a pic. It's really got me going now!! I've looked everywhere only without any luck. I will try and describe it best I can but I know without a picture I made this more difficult. It was a magenta/pinkish color and appeared to maybe an egg sack and was about 2x2 1/2in. It seemed porous. Is there any snails or critters that lay big patches of eggs in large pink patches?

Without a picture, I would guess a sponge as well.

I fully understand no one really knows without a pic and is 100% poor reef keeping on my part. If I was wondering what it was I should have taken a picture. Just figured I would ask and if someone knew of something similar to my less than ok description it was worth a shot. Thank you guys for your input it's greatly appreciated

The porosity is definitely indicative of a sponge. Many sponges have a grainy appearance and are known to grow in shaded areas under coral outcroppings.

Yes, that's a sponge. I've got several red, purple, and yellow ones in my tank.

Id say sponge by the description. But if it moved then it deff isnt a sponge!
Ive got tons of pink, green, black and white ones in my tank all over the rocks, usually in a dark area under shaded areas of corals, rocks and stuff.

It did not move. I removed the Hollywood stunner to move it since it's grown so much and now the feeding tentacles were reeking havoc on nearby zoas and some sps. When I removed the coral I was going to get some frags from it when I found the sponge underneath. Like your guys description it was underneath and in a very shaded area. It was late and I didn't snap a pic. I know it wasn't my best effort, but I didn't think much of it last night but this morning it really had me thinking "what the heck was that" so I turned to the experts? lol

Well that's really good to hear and a little unexpected that they are good signs of a healthy system. I'm going to continue to research them and things alike. Thanks all for the input. I really enjoy always absorbing new info from all the experience in this forum! Happy Reefing!!!
