So google is failing me at this point but the question is simple enough. Can I connect an RODI unit to something like this:

100 Gallon Storage Tank

I am wanting to store a large amount of RODI in case something bad happens but all RODI specific tanks are pressurized with an air bladder and have about 16 gallons of capacity tops, this wont work given we have around 300+ gallons of aquariums in total, two of which are 125s so we need a large amount of available water in the event of a disaster.

If I connect the unit at the inlet on the top, and seal the screw on lid, will it fill until it becomes full and then stop like it does with a typical storage tank? I am new to home RODI systems but figured this could work and then just install a spigot on the bottom connection?

I’m no expert but I think it would be difficult to get it to hold the pressure required and not leak at all. You’re probably better off getting a high level switch tied into the RO unit power supply.

A RODI storage tank is just a plastic container of whatever size you want to use and then you just install float valves to turn the top up off when full If you want to automate it. It doesn’t really matter what the tank is supposed to be designed for.

I have 2 425 litre water tanks (safe for drinking water) which are used for RODI and saltwater

Just realized I could go low tech with this and just allow it to fill into the container then shut the flow off to the RODI unit when its done filling so there would be no need to worry about pressure or setting up float valves and such? The storage tank is going next to the furnace downstairs so maybe a low tech and less error potential would be best?
