Lights went off for the night and per usual I still look around the tank and I noticed a couple torches had areas in their flesh that was missing but also circular pattern
Never seen this and was hoping someone could enlighten me as to what it is and if I need to do something
Thanks

The flesh is receding and that’s not good.. honestly there’s all sorts of things that can cause that.. flow, nutrients, flat worms, unstable parameters etc…

Is there something I can to fix the problem?

Those seem fine.. these look to be fresh cut.. have you dipped them in iodine or anything? How’s the flow where they’re at also? I’d try a dip in lugols if you got it.. help the flesh if its a infection or Eefw will pop out..

They were cut around 2 months ago
They were dipped after being cut and they sat in a qt tank for a month they seemed fine until recently
I have other torches in the tank and they are doing just fine
They are in moderate flow
Have seen some people talking about a peroxide dip to help infection(works better than iodine they say) so I was thinking of trying that

It def wouldn’t hurt! It doesn’t look like a reason to really panic as there’s plenty of flesh still.. to be honest I’ve never seen a flesh band that far down the stem.. all mine are about 1/2” or so down.. I had one pull back like that and within a week it was all back.. has alk dipped or anything? My nutrients bottomed out and caused mine after a hair algae explosion. Ugh.. lol

No change in alk
But yeah I agree iv never seen that flesh so far down
They seem to open fine and look happy
Just wanted to know if something was wrong before they really started down hill

Hard to say… everything looks good on your end! They can be finicky some times.. if it’s not staying retracted I wouldn’t sweat it to much! You got all your bases covered! A dip wouldn’t hurt thou if it gets worse.. for now I’d just let them do their thang!

On the spots, looks like light not reaching area and torch feeds off energy source known as zooxanthellae which needs light to produce this source. I dont see tissue recession as some of my euphyllia have this- just not as high but for skeleton health- assure your calcium is no less than 380 which is important for this type of coral.
Medium light and flow is a requirement making placement in the upper half of tank an ideal location

Calcium is right at 420
Also getting medium light/flow

Im looking on a phone but appears to be algae towards the bottom associated with zooxanthellae but one thing dawned on me with the spots- Assure its a spot and NOT flatworm which can blend in with the tissue.

All torches have been dipped
And I actually dipped them again after seeing this

Ok. I have recently found that on torches of you have flat worms that a light dipping or reccomended dipping did not dislodge the worms.

I only found this as I always dip my corals, but had similar issues like you with torches. Only after letting flat worms eat most of the flesh on one specimen and killing others. I gave a heavy dose of revive dip to coral. One cap full of revive to a small tubaware bowl. The worms then peeled off. They were not visible to naked eye before dip as I didn't know what to look for.

I’ll give that a shot

The exact concentration I used is 24oz of water to one cap full of revive. Dipped each one for minimum of 5 min. With in about 20 seconds you will see them peel off.
