The issue was bad seam. The buyer was not a newbie but fish shop owner. I don't know what was the resolution but that person was not satisfied. I was also told that their warranty is only 90 days which is way too short especially when it starts from the purchase date, not the date it was delivered to you. And we all know that it can be a while...

again, I can't speak for the past. I am keenly in tune with who we want to be today and going forward.

We are looking at the language of the warranty as well. we are looking and reviewing everything. I want to change it from the purchase day. I agree with you. Also, since I have been involved no one has been left out to dry on this topic.

Great questions. How much of a warranty are you looking for?

Yes, our standard warranty is 90 days. We warranty against leaks, glass defects and quality. If the quality looks good, tank doesn’t leak and the glass has no defects, the likelihood of those items changing after 90 days is slim. Will we support you, for sure. This also allows us to be very competitive. Our improvements recently only make the quality better. We also constantly over build our tanks.

Here are some of the things we can’t control.

• How the tank is handled?
• How the tank is setup?
• Tank leveled?
• Multiple tank moves?
• Date of tank filling?
• Pad used underneath the tank. Is it Aquarium grade or suggested pad?
• Tank alterations?
• Seam meddling?
• Euro-bracing meddling?

We have a strong desire to do the right thing while maintaining quality and price integrity.

I even heard that one of a guy who runs a prominent coral aquaculture outfit bought his grow out tanks from them. Maybe he got special attention and maybe not.

I know a local guy here who said their tanks were just fine. But these guys are at the absolute low end of custom builds. So I would expect less in the cosmetics than from one of the high end builders.

Thanks so much for sharing. In October of 2019 we have some major changes at Glass Cages. major. We are leaning into the past challenges so we can produce a much better product in conjunction with a much better customer experience. SO if just half of 1% had a bad experience that's 500 .5% is an excellent number considering 20% of people are grouches and narcissist then there is people placing on homemade stands, uneven floors or dropping/scratching and trying to pull a fast one to blame it on the company......I think I would pick another profession

I started at 180 gallons for your question.
From 10/15 to 1/15
180 to 1500 gallon tanks = 56
We had an issue with one highly custom tank. Worked with our customer and resolved the situation. No other issues. With our QA processes in place, we catch issues prior to them leaving the shop.

@Glass Cages @Joe Glass Cages , glass cages did my 350, 3 -40g, 60g frag tank, 110g sump. All after October. My seams are clean, quality was amazing, and price was fantastic. I recommend them to everyone I know that are looking for tanks.

Man i am absolutely floored here. I have had 2 Glasscages tanks. My current is a ~ 160g 48"x37.5"x20" display and customer 70g sump. My first 60 gallons from a few years ago was "ok" in finish, but my 160 is beautiful. 3/4" rimless glass, with a bottom euro brace. Definitely not a fanboy, as my first big build was a Reef Savvy.

What really gets me is the head-on responses Glasscages is giving here to some very tough questions and comments. I don't think i have ever seen a company directly address issues like this, while being so humble. It literally is giving me chills reading through the ownership of past opportunities and forward thinking that Joe is assuming.

Anyone can celebrate wins. Joe and Glasscages is celebrating their failures - and doing it publicly. Any company that has this attitude I will support and promote as best i can.

Thank you Joe for setting a new standard, and setting yourself apart from the crowd. Looking forward to beginning a conversation with you on my next (~500g) upgrade.

You could probably get a similar price out of Miracle with far better quality and value. I paid $5200 for a 400 gallon with a 30" external glass overflow box, armor seams, and freights 1 hour from my house. If your gonna go big you don't want to leave it to chance, Better of going slightly smaller with better quality.

Miracles has, at minimum, been twice the price as Glass Cages every time I quoted them.

If the tank is leak and scratch free, thats the quality I'm looking for. Not everyone wants to pay a premium for luxury items like ridiculously oversized glass, armored seams, pvc bottoms, etc.

Its the same way with sumps. Some people want to pay $600 for a custom acrylic sump. Others can easily get buy with $100 or less using a 55 gallon tanks and some cheap baffles.
