Very nice indeed. I think they help keep nutrients in line in a tank. Yes they pull a lot, but also help. Well, maybe more PULL when they get like Troy's! My last 120 had a Derasa that grew from 5" to about 15". That's about as big as I'd want, they start rearranging things!

Did something trigger this spawn, or is it a regular event? Super cool you were able to video it.

Thanks Troy I have seen this 2 other times in the last 5 years but have not been able to pinpoint any specific thing that was done too triggr it? and yes I was very lucky to be there at the time my blue Maxima which is about 5 inches spawn at first and a half hour later my squamosa spawned in the same day this is the blue Maxima.

Today my Gigas spawned all afternoon, well over a dozen times. Totally unexpected, it usually spawns in the summer.

I picked this up from Billy in D.C. (“ddiver”). I have been looking for one for quite some time, and I had been talking with “ddiver” for about 3 months. I wish I could say that it was an unknown gigas that nobody knew about, but I am very pleased to say that it is enjoying its new home. He dwarfs my 12” derasa and 14” squamosa, and I am estimating he weighs around 80 lbs. Here’s a picture from when we pulled him out of the tank, and the tank that he was in previous to mine:
