I've always seen Derasas at the LFS at 2-3 inches at most. It was about a month ago that I noticed that they brought in some 5 inch Derasas. I wasn't interested at the time, since I already had one. A month passes, and nobody has purchased any of them! They had their mantles extended quite spectacularly -an inch or two from the shell margins, and packed on half an inch's growth since their introduction. I decided then and there that I would get one, because they were looking so fantastic. It was in such good health that when I opened the bag back at home, the clam was already open, just chilling out. A quick inspection and scrub of the shell with hydrogen peroxide and in it went into the DT.
It now hangs out next to my Hippopus and blue Squamosa.
