Just the other day i was telling a friend about this build, very enthusiastically. When i went to show him the thread, it stuck me that i had forgotten whose it was. Yes, this needs an update for sure.

Sorry for the delay been out of country traveling for a while and not much time to get on boards. Tank is doing really well now. Growth has been crazy. Here are a couple shots.
First of frag tank with several babies turning into teenagers...

shot from last night with moon lights kickin..
Keep in mind the tank is 11' long and those are MP60s for size reference on the coral growth.

Good news is that during my travels the system has been running flawlessly. I am able to see everything by camera and the Apex is of course a life saver. Only plans to change in design are to add electric valves incorporated into the Apex to be able to set up automatic 300gal water changes when I am out of town. Growth has been crazy lately as the frag tank will attest to.
Dang. Huge!
I attached a shot of my blasto colony that looks very similar to your avatar. Sorry for my iphone pics but all the ability I have..lol

Corals are coming along great! I'm intrigued by your plan of using electric valves via apex for AWC. When you do this, and if you have the time, please show how (like what type of valve, how you program it into apex, how you control it, etc..). Thanks, and the tank is looking like a huge success!

Thanks!!!
I have been working on the valves for quite a while. Only problem with the current ones that are available is they are so bulky. IE my 2" returns will have valves about the size of 4 inch valves so a a problem with current install exists. I am trying to find some that are on a diet.;) They will be controlled by 110V and plugged into Energy Bar and programmed for water change.

Current Water Change Procedure (by pressing door bell button)
1- Turn Off Heater #1 and Heater #2
2- Turn Off BK400 Pump #1 and BK400 Pump#2
3-Turn Off 3 Energy Bar outlets controlling Ozone
4-Turn Off 3 Energy Bar outlets for Calcium Reactor
5- Turn Off Return Pump 1 &2
6-Wait about 5 minutes for water to drain into sump
7-Manually close return #2 to tank and open Return #2 to drain
8-Turn on Return Pump#2 until sump empties
9-Turn off Return Pump #2
10-Manually close Return #2 to drain
11- Manually open Return #2 to tank
12-Turn on waterchange return pump until sump full
13-Turn off waterchange pump

All of this is currently controlled by apex doorbell button. All that is needed is to install the valves and add the code in Manual lines to incorporate new electric valve. Sump levels are controlled by Apex as well through float switches as is the 300 gallon salt reservoir. If the reservoir is low it will not allow the code to initiate. Now keep in mind I actually have the same setup for the QT setup so another set of valves actually exists for the saltwater return to go to the display or QT.
HTH

You setup this planned water change system yet? I'd love to see and hear about it, also with an update possibly?! :)
