Now the Christmas holidays are over. I’m watching you :D

Coming back after a short visit in southern part of Sweden. Everything looks well. sorry to say that my latest reef plate pipe fish did not make it. it die the day before I left.

I have a question to whose that have a experiences with T. deresa clams. I have four and sometimes they decide not to "expand" a day - the next day - it is expanded as they should. Everyone shows this behavior - not on the same time but every one does it incidentally now and then. Explanations any one?

It works rather good for the moment - since I discover that I could not relay totally (and absolute) on my Hanna Checker.

I dose around 0.06 ppm PO4 a day for the moment - taking out the PO4 remover and feed with 5-6 frozen cubes cyclops and 2 - 3 cubes adult artemia every evening.

Still have some cyanobacteria in places with low circulation.

I have to clean my windows 2 - 3 times a week - otherwise I have at the start a film of green algae on the window - but that´s only the in the start - this window was cleaned totally 2 months ago!

I have a montipora that grow close to my left side panel and if i do not use my algae scraper in the gap between the coral and the side panel at least twice a week - I have problems to pass the gap with the scraper

Two weeks ago - I took away some parts of this montipora because it was too large and shadowed corals behind it - it looks awful as usual but today it looks like it should - the growth make it look natural again.

The lesson learn - all of our test equipment is of hobby grade (good hobby grade - but still hobby grade) use it not as the whole truth and not either as the whole likelihood :) - use it as a tool among others. It was not long ago I complain over bad growth and not healthy aquarium - all my test show nutrients enough - most biological life said that I had a nutrient problem. I could not get down the PO4 with GFO and Al based media - it still show around 0.1 ppm PO4. I reacted on this - should have reacted more and first after a Triton test - I realized for sure that I was low in PO4. I´m going to send in a new Triton today - but I will take the sample after my peak pH in the evening. My goal is 0.04 - 0.08 ppm one hour after peak photosynthesis. I use my pH as a tool to determine when have the peak of photosynthesis. I have also change my way of dosing PO4. I have a reversed refugium (not so very large) and during night - I do not dose PO4. I´ll dose it during time that the corals need it instead.

Fore sure but it is only expanded in the evening when I lower the flow for feeding. Every time I feed - I lower the flow to 10 % of the normal. I do it 2-3 minutes before feeding cyclops. Normally around 21:00. The sun coral has start to react on lower flow at that time. Lower flow during daytime - no reactions :)

If seen something similar in a T. Crocea, where at times the mantle wouldn't fully extend during the day. Often it would expel excess zoöxanthellae when only the blue T5's were on that same evening or the next evening. Next day (so sometimes a day before expelling the zoöxanthellae) it would fully extend its mantle like normal. Never noticed this on my Maxima's.
