I'm going to press the big red button on my desk. I've already pushed plenty of small red buttons, but nothing happened. I'm planning on doing an order for crabs, urchins, and snails in order to finally put an end to my bubble algae.

How many pitho and emerald crabs should I order? I'll be getting them from ReefCleaners, which sells not only pitho crabs but emeralds which are guaranteed to eat bubble algae. I'm thinking I'll order 4 of each, does that sound good? It's a 65 gallon tank. If crabs don't work, I'm going to press the last big red button and call in the foxface, which I don't want to do because my tank's too small.

How many of each kind should I get? I don't want to over-do it, but I definitely want to see results. Thanks!

My big red button is API Algaefix. Nukes Valonia every time.

Put the fish in the tank for three months and then take it back to the lfs. Then add the inverts to keep it clean.
Love my foxface.

Ever considered reef flux? I had a few patches of valonia that got nuked when i used reef flux for my lobophora issue. Admittedly i used 2x the dose though, no adverse effects on nems, inverts, fish, or assorted corals

I got three for my 32 gallon. They, along with continued manual removal, did the job.

Last time I tried Algaecide (Vibrant in my last tank) it killed off a 250$ trachy. I'll pass on that until all other options have failed. Thanks for the idea though!
Understand your reticence.

I've used it as a final solution for years. Not nice, but if everything else fails...

FWIW, it's never harmed a single coral, invert, or fish any time I've used it.
You have to be real careful with dosage though as the dosage that works is very close to being toxic to other critters.

The bubble algae apocalypse is (hopefully) nigh. I ordered 5 pitho crabs, one for every 10 lbs of rock. Will update as I go along. I've got high hopes, it seems that these might be the best solution.

Still an issue. I think the crabs have done some work, but they don't eat the large bubbles, and they can't get all the little ones either. I don't expect to see the bubbles take over anymore, but they are certainly noticeable.
