i have a 55 gallon with a black ice clown, helfreichi firefish, tangora goby and possum wrasse...I'm looking for some help finding one last fish to complete my tank...I would preferably like a fish that is active and swims around a lot any ideas would be helpful.

Get a school of anthias. A male and 2/3 females. Bimac anthias are great. You can also look into bartlets.

A flasher wrasse would get along with the possum wrasse? I think 3 more fish would be too crowded.

You are saying 7 fish in a 55 gallon is too crowded?? Almost all are going to be 3 inches in size. Also if you read the OP he wants the fish that is active and swim around. The flasher wrasses hide a lot.

I guess we have a different experience then. My carpenter's flasher is always out, often flashes my purple firefish which is his favorite target.

My flasher don't hide but they don't have the personality of a fairy wrasse I actually had to pull a carpenter flasher for aggression because he came in full size super male I have a clown fairy that has so much personality and very peaceful.

That was the OP that you quoted

My McCoskers wrasse (a flasher) hid the first week but is a very active swimmer and spends little time hiding during the day. They may need time to get used to bright lights or get on your light schedule but they are great fish.

Y'all got me all confused on this thread haha. Super bowl and trying to catch a glimpse of fish added to DT.

How many really comes down to what your filtration can handle. Being patient and going slowly. I thought 13 would be max for me but see smaller tanks with as many or more depending on what you do.

I hear you. In the same boat here. But I have a SPS tank and more fish means more food (read poop) for my corals. It works well.

Still, 7 fish for a 55 gallon is not crowded by any means. Unless you have 3 tangs out of the 7 :D. Fish that stay 3 inches or less will be no issue.

I think it's more than just the amount of fish but rather the compatibility of all the fish...I try to keep a peaceful reef.

You stated you have 4 fish and there was no anthias in there. That is why I suggested anthias. Go for what you think will be peaceful. Eventually there will always be some friction. There are so many fish sold as peaceful but the truth is far from it. Take a look at the fairy wrasses sold out there. Check Liveaquaria description and they label almost all of the fairy wrasses peaceful. It is not what it looks like.

Been there, done that.

Good luck.
