last fish or couple of fish

Currently I have a 40G mixed reef w/20G Long sump/fuge. I am looking at getting 1 or 2 more fish possibly. It will be a Helfrichi Firefish and/or Canary Wrasse (Yellow Coris).

Currently I have:

Black Ice Clowns ( Pair)
Yellow Watchman Goby
Green Mandarin (eats pellets)
McCoskers Wrasse

Do you think adding 1or 2 more fish will be too much for the bioload? and if so couldnt I just do larger weekly water changes? Also, will be getting a Clam and some more snails (but those dont really add to the bioload) The Clam is the main reason behind the yellow coris wrasse though. Anyways, let me know what y'all think. Thanks!

Adding two small fish wont have a huge effect on the bioload. Do you have a skimmer? How much LR do you have? I have 8 fish in my 40b, and have no problems. I do run an oversized skimmer and GFO, as well as doing water changes weekly. Youll be fine adding two small fish. If youre that worried about cramming the bioload, put one in then wait a couple weeks to introduce the other for your aystem to catch up.

Just curious, but what does a clam have to do with the wrasse?

I do have a skimmer (going to go bigger eventually) but its rated for 75g, honestly I am unsure on the amount of live rock but if I had to guess i would say anywhere between 45-55lbs along with 5lbs or so in the refugium. I was thinking about running GFO as well, just haven't really done too much research on it.

The Clam and wrasse lol. I know that the yellow coris is a predator of most or all clam pest from what I hear. Plus I like the little flash of yellow they add when out and about. That is really the only reason I was thinking about him. But I am still on the fringe about a clam. But the firefish is a for sure go over the wrasse.

Ok. Ya youll have no problem adding more fish. Are you keeping SPS corals? I do and thats why i run GFO. But if you dont, your corals may like the extra dirt from 2 more fish.

Oh i had no idea that coris wrasses are predacious towards clams! Thats interesting. For what its worth, Id get the clam over the coris wrasse. There are other fish out there with just as much or if not better coloration and 'flash'. Look into a mystery wrasse. Theyre a really sweet fish.

I have just a couple SPS, but mainly my system is LPS, and Zoas/Palys. The yellow coris wrasse is a predator against clam pest, Not towards the clam lol. They basically are good to have around if you have a clam from what I understand.
